How does one decide on decor styles and themes?

Do you ever wonder what styles and themes does my home have? What kind of feelings and emotions do people have when they walk into my home? Have you ever walked into a home that had plain walls without any family pictures, paintings, posters, or sculptures? At my home, every room has a different theme. For example, the kitchen and dining room walls are painted burgundy and white but the cabinetry takes up most of the space. Another room has the Parisian theme which I sometimes think is overrated, but on a personal level because I lived there when I was a college student, I bring personal elements to my home decor. There is definitely an Eiffel Tower wall lamp from Bed Bath and Beyond that looks like the picture below.
That same room is painted a baked scone color with white borders. In rooms where I spend the majority of the time I have noticed that I tend to go with neutral colors such as beiges, light blues, whites, and light greens.

While I'm not an intuitive creative person at heart, when it comes to my home decorating it is important to me. Why? Because I cherish the place that I live in everyday so choosing the right colors, pictures, and home decor is important to me. And although I consider myself a "always on-the-go" kind of woman when it comes to decorating my house I like to take my time, sometimes years, to sit (or stand) in each room quietly and decide what theme and which objects to bring in that will bring life to each room.

I once glanced over a flea market home decorating ideas magazine and started thinking how much creativity goes into living spaces in general. It can be overwhelming to choose whether to go with a simple bohemian look, a creative artistic open space concept look, or a cozy family friendly look. The prices can vary significantly as well. Another thing to consider is the style, size, and location of your home.
